contact lenses

A selection of contact lenses are available. Grace will prescribe the best lenses to suit your lifestyle and will advise on cleaning, maintenance, and correct application. Contact lenses are available in daily disposable, monthly disposable and overnight wear varieties and if not in-store we can supply within three working days.

Contact lens fittings can be performed alongside the general visual examination at an additional fee. Teaching on insertion and removal is included for new wearers, and aftercare and refits are offered to existing wearers.

If you're an existing customer and would like to order your contact lenses now, let us know and we'll be in touch straight away.

general visual and ocular health test (45 minutes)

Our general visual examination tests both distance and near vision, ocular muscle co-ordination, motility, and colour vision screening. Additionally, Grace conducts ocular health screening looking for cataracts, intra-ocular pressure (IOP) for glaucoma, anterior segments of the globe for allergies, dry eyes, meibomian glands dysfunction, corneal segment clarity, posterior segments for the health of the optic nerve heads and any abnormal pigment changes on the retina.

This examination takes a good 45 minutes, and is advised for all new patients as a starting point and recommended every 2 years to existing patients.

dilation + Photos + Fields + OCT test (60 minutes)

This is a more in-depth 4-part eye health check. If you have a high prescription, above 4D; have a family history of eye disease; are aged 40 or over, or if Grace notices anything unusual in the General Visual Health test, she will recommend having these additional tests.

After your pupils have been dilated you will not be able to read for a few hours, so we recommend this exam is conducted at the end of the day.

part 1: dilated fundi examination (dfe)

Once the pupil is dilated it allows a clear view of the periphery retina allowing for detection of any naevi (moles), lattices, cataracts and retinal detachment. This also identifies macular degeneration, retina holes, early signs of glaucoma and other diseases of the eye.

Part 2: FUNDI PHOTOGRAPHY

We will document the back of your eye with Fundus photography to monitor any changes, including your optic disc, macular and periphery.

part 3: visual field testing

A very detailed test of your peripheral and central vision. The device used helps detect any visual field defects due to glaucoma, neurological disease and pituitary enlargement or cataract changes.

part 4: Ocular Coherence Tomography (oct) scan

This technique scans the structural layers of the back of the eye and allows Grace to view 3D cross-section images of the layers of the retina.
